About Pintia

Pintia is one of the great wines of the D.O. Toro that starts life on the San Román de Hornija moors, Valladolid, an area of boulder soils formed by deposits from the Duero River. It is made by the Pintia winery, which belongs to the outstanding Tempos Vega Sicilia wine group.Pintia is a single-variety Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) wine from plots with an average age of 40 years that are harvested manually. The harvest is transported in 12 kilo boxes and kept in a cold chamber in the winery for 12 hours to preserve the fruity intensity of the grapes.As well as the selection that happens in the vineyard, the clusters also go through a double selection process in the winery: the first is to discard the clusters that seemed fine in the vineyard but are not, and the second purifies the berries by removing the defective ones found in good clusters. Before fermentation, cold maceration takes place in oak vats for 5 days, and malolactic fermentation also takes place in wood. 70% of the resulting wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and the remaining 30% in American oak barrels.The Pintia winery was set up in 2006, after the successful creation of Alión, a winery that also belongs to the Tempos Vega Sicilia group. It is a modern facility that is as elegant as it can be in an area like Toro, which is usually more rustic.Like Alión, Pintia is a unique wine, as it is the only one made in the winery, which guarantees that it will always be the best wine produced in the natural conditions offered by this privileged terroir.Pintia is a wine of great intensity, a faithful reflection of the character of the terroir and with the seal of elegance and distinction of the Tempos Vega Sicilia family.

Pintia 2019 unfurls a spectrum of aromas with ripe black fruits such as blackberries and plums taking center stage, interwoven with a delicate hint of spices and an underlying cacao note that captivates the sense of smell. On the palate, it is robust and concentrated, featuring a texture reminiscent of pomegranate and a lingering finish that leaves a profound and enduring impression. Pintia 2018 unfolds with an articulate and expressive bouquet, accentuating the scents of ripe plums and blackberries, interwoven with a hint of dried herbs. The maturation process lends nuances of toasted elements and a subtle undercurrent of creamy oak. On the palate, it is robust, brimming with flavors of succulent fruit and a refined spiciness reminiscent of vanilla and black pepper. The mature tannins contribute to its dense structure, delivering a prolonged and satisfying finish.

Pintia 2017 is an elegant and robust red, boasting a deep cherry hue. Its bouquet is forthright and earnest, brimming with vivid and intense fruity aromas (blackberry, blueberry, cedar). Spices also make their presence known. On the palate, it is succulent and well-structured, featuring smooth and exquisitely refined tannins. Harmoniously balanced. Exceptionally approachable. The finish is prolonged.

Pintia 2016 is a red wine boasting scents of ripe black fruit, spiced undertones, and hints of exquisite cocoa and toasted elements. On the palate, it is forthright, eloquent, and flavorsome. This wine features a bright, seamlessly integrated acidity, mature and silky tannins, and an extended finish graced by a subtle bitterness that is highly appealing.

Pintia is a red wine with an intense colour. It has a broad, expressive and elegant nose that reveals powerful fruit alongside nuances of a subtle and high quality wood. On the palate it is structured, with a good tannins, a gentle, fresh and persistent mid-palate and a floral retronasal finish.

The 2012 vintage

Pintia has a very elegant passage on the palate. Ripe red fruit, compote, blueberry and blackberry. A very persistent finish.

Cherry colour with a purple trim.

On the nose the wine is complex and powerful. Blueberries, strawberries and blackberries. With a presence of barrel notes.

In the palate we find a red wine with a powerful attack and a mid palate full of abundant notes of fruit and with more toasted aromas than in the nose. It is very well structured. A medium-bodied wine with a good, very integrated acidity and fine and ripe tannins. Long and very persistent finish with notes of fruit and spices at retro-olfaction.

Dark cherry colour with violet nuances. Very bright, with dense quite coloured slow-falling tears.

A high intensity wine with fleshy notes of ripe black fruit released moderately. Its spicy notes, its subtle and elegant toasted and roasted aromas and its refreshing balsamic hints round out this balanced and highly harmonious nose.
